1. Who we are

Locl is an online marketplace operated by سعيد الكنيبي للتقنية والابتكار (Al Kunaibī Technology & Innovation), a company licensed in the United Arab Emirates (Trade License: CN-6633576). We connect buyers with local small businesses for in-person pickup.

2. What data we collect

Data you give us directly

  • Account information: full name, email address, phone number
  • Seller information: business name (English and Arabic), shop description, pickup location, WhatsApp number (optional)
  • Order information: items ordered, quantities, pickup vehicle details (make, color, plate number) if provided
  • Profile photo and shop logo (if uploaded)
  • Messages sent between buyers and sellers within the platform
  • Reviews and ratings you submit

Data we collect automatically

  • Device and browser information: device type, operating system, browser
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, session duration
  • Location data: approximate location used to show nearby businesses (only when you grant permission; we do not store your precise location)
  • Log data: IP address, timestamps, error logs

Data from third parties

  • Supabase: our database and authentication provider stores your account credentials securely
  • Payment data: payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or payment credentials

3. How we use your data

  • Creating and managing your account
  • Processing and fulfilling orders
  • Showing nearby businesses using your location (only with your consent)
  • Sending order status updates
  • Preventing fraud and abuse
  • Improving the platform
  • Complying with UAE law

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.

4. Who we share data with

  • Sellers: when you place an order, the seller sees your name, order details, and any pickup vehicle information you provided
  • Buyers: when a seller accepts an order, their pickup location and (if opted in) WhatsApp number is shared with the buyer
  • Supabase: our infrastructure provider, processes data under a data processing agreement
  • Stripe: payment processing; subject to Stripe's own privacy policy
  • Legal authorities: when required by UAE law or a valid court order

5. Data retention

  • Active accounts: retained for the duration of your account
  • Deleted accounts: personal information is anonymized immediately; order records are retained for 5 years for legal/tax compliance
  • Messages: retained for 2 years then deleted
  • Logs: retained for 90 days

6. Your rights under UAE PDPL

Under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data. To exercise any right, email support@locl.ae. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Data security

We use TLS/HTTPS encryption, row-level database security, Cloudflare protection, and regular security audits. In the event of a breach affecting your rights, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by PDPL.

8. Children

Locl is not intended for users under 18. Contact support@locl.ae if you believe a child has created an account.

9. Changes

We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
